At the core of this allround wheelset lies a brand new aluminium rim with its balanced width to stiffness to weight ratio. The R 24 SPLINE® is built around it and features a proven pawl system freewheel as well as a high end build with bladed spokes and elaborate alloy nipples. With these features it is a premium training wheel, be it for road or cyclocross use.

There's significant competition in the £200-£250 road wheel market. For many years Mavic Aksium and Fulcrum Racing 5/7 have been the go to wheel for bike upgrades. As a wheel builder I feel the specification of the R24 is a game changer. These wheels feature proper spokes and nipples, tubeless compatible rims and serviceable hubs at a fantastic price.

These wheels utilise DT's own straight pull spokes laced into a tubeless road compatible pin jointed rim. The front wheel is laced in a radial pattern and the rear is 2 cross and they're built with DT Swiss Aero Comp bladed spokes and Pro Lock spoke nipples.

Moonglu Opinion

A real gem of a wheel set for a couple of hundred pounds. Available as a pair or as individual front and rear wheels these are a fantastic option as an upgrade or crash replacement.

We are big fans of DT Swiss wheels, they offer hand built quality and finishing with that 'Factory' appeal. Their wheels feature fully serviceable hubs, standard spokes and replaceable rims so if the worst happens they can be salvaged by a good quality wheel builder, they're not bin fodder like some on the market. Most people default to the likes of Mavic and Fulcrum when they decide to upgrade but I couldn't recommend them for the reasons above, too many specialist components and expensive repairs.
