Moonglu is an independent local bike shop based in Ripon, North Yorkshire. Opened in 2002, owner Neil Dunkley has established a friendly local bike shop feel with welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Located centrally in the North of England, we are situated between the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, ideal areas for both road and mountain biking. Ripon is now on the UK cycling map thanks to the 2014 Grand Depart, the route of stage 1 of the Tour de France passes through the city and is now popular with recreational cyclists keen to retrace the steps of their heroes. Ripon is also on the Sustrans Route 69 better known as Way of the Roses. We regularly help out stranded cyclists struggling to complete the route with broken bikes.
The shops' main bike brand is Giant Bicycles and we stock a large range of their bikes including a full selection of their award winning Defy and Liv Avail road bikes. We are a Giant Advanced carbon road bike dealer and Giant Maestro full suspension specialist stocking bikes such as the TCR, Propel and Defy Advanced road bikes and the Anthem, Avail and Glory mountain bikes. Our dealer status allows us access to the Giant demo fleet of road and mountain bikes including the all new Defy Advanced road disc equipped bikes.
Moonglu also stock Giant and Liv hybrid and city bikes such as the Roam, Escape, Invite and Alight, aswell as their mountain bikes and cyclo-cross bikes. We have now started stocking Ridgeback and Saracen children's bikes in sizes from 12 inch wheel up to 24 inch wheel in boys and girls options. For the past 2 years we have acted as a Volt Electric Bikes demo centre with 4 of their models on display. Volt are a UK company that offer a reliable, well thought out range of power assisted bikes.
The shop also has a busy bike service and repair workshop able to carry out regular servicing and more complex repairs including wheel building, hub repair and suspension fork servicing. Neil has been riding road and mountain bikes for over 20 years and has a broad knowledge of products and technical specifications whilst workshop manager Mark is an expert bike mechanic, able to work on most types of bike and is rarely beaten.
As a dedicated independent shop we are affiliated with the UK's largest cycle trade organisation, The Association of Cycle Traders, best known as ACT. They support independent bike shops throughout the UK allowing us to offer products such as bikes on the Cycle to Work Scheme and competitive finance through V12 Finance and Ride It Away.
Although cycling has become very diverse over the last decade, we endeavour to stock a range of cycling products to suit the needs of our customer base. We have access to many leading brands, however, with the limitations of retail space and the desire to have a pleasant shopping environment, we cannot display or stock every item from every brand. As keen cyclists ourselves, we try to stock items that we have either tried ourselves or know are amongst the best product and best value for money on the market.
We're filling our online shop slowly as time allows. You can use the Google Shop Fly Through below to get a feel for some of the items and brands that we stock. Here's a list of the brands we stock and sell along with links to their websites.
