Santa Cruz Blur LT Carbon
This was a special treat, as we aren’t usually given access to Santa Cruz frames. This Blur LT Carbon frame was supplied by the customer for Moonglu to complete the build.
This was a progressive build as we had already supplied and fit the Hope bottom bracket and hybrid tapered Chris King headset, both red anodized. The head tube on the Blur is somewhat unusual as it comes with a 44mm ID upper tube and 49mm ID lower tube. We fitted a Chris King 1 1/8″ inset in the upper tube and a conventional 1.5″ external fitting lower cup to accomodate the Fox Float 150 RLC QR15 tapered forks.
Our client asked for a high end SRAM gearset on this bike. The new 2 x 10 SRAM X-0 groupset is available in a number of colour options, we decided to use the subtle red graphics to compliment the other red components on the bike, mainly the headset, hubs and bottom bracket. As the bike will primarily be used for trail riding, we equipped a 39/26 double chainset and 12-36 rear cassette. This was the first bike that we had fitted a direct mount front mech to. There are a number of configurations, the Blur LT is equipped with a high mount direct.
The wheels had been pre-built, we used a classic wheelset, Hope Pro 2 hubs on Mavic 717 Disc rims. The front hub used the industry standard 15mm thru axle adopted by Fox, for the rear we used a 10x135mm Hope axle conversion and DT Swiss RWS 10mm thru axle. The build was complimented by a Fizik Gobi XM saddle and Ltd Edition Troy Lee Design ODI Lock On grips.
Detail of Chris King headset configuration shown above. The cockpit comprised a Thomson X4 90mm/10Deg stem and Easton Monkeylite Carbon handlebars.
The brakes are Limited Edition Hope Tech M4s with black Tech levers and calipers with red detailing. These are a limited run produced for Moonglu by Hope. We have all the current Hope brakes available in this finish, Tech X2, Tech M4 and Tech V2 in our web shop.
