Lynskey Sportive Custom Build
We have nearly completed our third Lynskey Sportive custom build this month (July 11), although pictured without, this Sportive will be fitted with full length mudguards and a rear rack before it leaves next week.
This bike is a full build with everything brand new. The customer requirement was a comfortable bike, able to cover big mileage in hilly terrain and carry some luggage. With the hilly terrain in mind, we set the bike up with a Shimano Ultegra triple chainset and components.
Drawing on some of the experience gained from our previous Sportive builds we paired the frame with a Kinesis DC07 carbon winter fork with mudguard eyelets. Other carry over components include an Easton EC70 carbon seatpin, Hope headset and Hope Stainless Steel bearing road bottom bracket.
Instead of Tektro long drop callipers used on our other builds we went for a Shimano Ultegra series 57mm drop brake, to match the other Ultegra parts on the bike. The bike will primarily be used for long, slow touring miles, so we kept the fork steerer quite long and used a 6 Deg +ve rise Easton EA70 stem to keep the front end high and comfortable. The stem was matched by an Easton EA70 42cm ergobar.
The wheels were built in house at Moonglu and were put together with reliability in mind. Shimano Ultegra 6700 32h hubs were laced onto Mavic CXP33 rims using Sapim Race double butted spokes in a three cross pattern. These were fitted with Continental Gatorskin 700 x 25c tyres.
The remainder of the drivetrain is completed with a Ultegra triple shifters, chainset, front mech, rear mech, chain and cassette.
Once the mudguards and rear rack have been fitted this blog post will be updated with completion pictures.
